Mentally Solid

You Can Develop Your Mental Game — But There's More Work to Do

In my experience, many athletes never even think about training their mind, or when they do, it's an afterthought or worse, something to do at half time when they're getting their asses kicked.

So, the fact that you're here, taking this seriously, already puts you ahead of the curve.

But right now, your score shows you're in the Mentally Solid range.

That’s not a bad place to be.

It simply means you're still laying the groundwork for what could be done.

You’ve likely got some tools, maybe breathing techniques, some grit, some self-talk habits, but they haven’t fully kicked in when the pressure’s on.

And that’s okay. That’s normal.

Right now, you might also notice things like:

  • You'e performing well in training but struggling to execute under pressure

  • You're getting distracted or second-guessing yourself in key moments

  • You're feeling confident… until something goes wrong

  • You're wanting to reset mentally, but you don't know how

Now, all of that simply means you need a strategy, some habits, and experience.

You’re not broken.

You’re not weak.

You just haven’t fully trained the mental side of performance yet.

And that’s the difference between solid and consistent.

Mental skills aren’t mysterious. They’re not just for the pros. And you don’t need a psychology degree to start.

You just need a simple system.

A way to focus your mental training, one step at a time.

That's why I’ve created a short guide to help you begin, called the 5 Essentials to Start Training Your Mind

It shows you:

  • 5 simple mental skills every athlete should know

  • 1 action step per day to put them into practice

  • No fluff. No hype. Just real, proven habits you can build now

So, if you think that could be helpful, go ahead and...

Score: 24–55

This person often:

  • Has some coping tools, but they’re inconsistent or shallow

  • Might feel okay in training but struggles to perform under pressure

  • May not be self-sabotaging yet — but is definitely vulnerable to it

  • Needs clarity on what exactly to improve and how

That means...
